Insider tips
Stay in Downtown Toronto for easy access to attractions, malls and foodie spots-
Highly recommend heading to Toronto Centre Islands for a day- great for families, it is a little unexpected.
Bikes are best for exploring the Waterfront and the Toronto Islands.
Bike-rental agencies, charging about $15/35 per hour/day, are found along the waterfront; Wheel Excitement is highly recommended.
For short rides, consider using Bike Share Toronto, a citywide bike-share program that rents bikes in 30-minute increments, either for a single-use ($3.25) or for unlimited periods using one- and three-day passes ($7/15). These can be easy on the wallet and are a minimal hassle. Just remember to dock your bike every 30 minutes; otherwise, you'll end up paying a premium.
Ferries and water taxis are the only way to get to the Toronto Islands.
Toronto Islands Ferries services run from the terminal at the foot of Bay St to Centre Island, Hanlan's Point and Ward’s Island. Services are slashed to roughly hourly from October to March, only running to Ward’s Island. The journey to any of the islands takes only 15 minutes.
The GO Niagara Train Service operates on weekends, providing seamless access to all that Niagara has to offer.Round trip costs $25
A round trip ticket for children 6 to 12-years-old is just $8 from Union Station when purchased as part of the the Go Niagara package which includes the complimentary GO Train tickets, along with WEGO bus access.
Day trips:
Barbie World great for those who like dolls
Canada's Wonderland- Theme park and great in some with water slides
Vaughan Mills is one of Canada’s largest indoor shopping centres. This outlet mall features over 200 specialty stores and designer outlets.
You might want to consider purchasing a Toronto CityPass which gives you entrance into five of the city’s most popular attractions. You get tickets to the CN Tower, Casa Loma, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Toronto Zoo and the Hockey Hall of Fame.
